Introduction of Flow Cytometry

Flow Cytometry is a popular laser-based cell analysis technique which can measure the fluorescence intensity in a rapidly flowing fluid stream at single cell level and molecular level. It is a multi-parameter and rapid quantitative analysis of single-cell suspension stained with specific fluorescent markers. Flow cytometer, which is mainly composed of fluidics, optics and electronics, is used for analysis and data collection.

Flow cytometry provides an effective method to measures physical properties and internal complexity of single cells in solution. Fluorescent dyes or antibodies conjugated to fluorescent dyes can be used to label cells by binding with different cellular components. Fluorescence detected as different colors can be used to measure several cell properties at the same sample simultaneously.
