Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells were originally derived from the kidney tissue of a female Cocker Spaniel and are commonly used for a variety of applications including viral research, vaccine production, and bioprocessing.MDCK cells are most commonly used in virology and vaccine research because they are sensitive to a range of viruses, including influenza A and B viruses, parainfluenza viruses, and canine distemper viruses. They are also used in other research areas such as gene expression analysis, drug development, and cell biology.
