Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is a protein hormone produced by leukocytes, which has various biological activities and is involved in many physiological and pathological processes. TNF mainly acts on tumor cells and inflammatory tissues at the site of infection, inducing apoptosis of tumor cells, increasing the activity of the immune system, and causing inflammatory responses in the body. In some diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease, TNF exacerbates the inflammatory response by inducing immune cell activity and cytokine release, leading to the progression and exacerbation of the disease.
