Description

McCoy's 5A medium is a general-purpose medium containing the reducing agent glutathione, bacterial peptone, and high concentrations of glucose. It supports the proliferation of various types of primary cells, established cell lines, and explants from biopsies, including primary mammalian cells derived from normal bone marrow, skin, spleen, kidney, lung, rat embryo, and other tissues. It contains glutamine and typically requires the addition of 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) for use.
