Description

Ham's F-12 contains a wide range of components, including zinc, putrescine, hypoxanthine, and thymidine. It was initially designed for serum-free single-cell culture of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells and is now used for serum-free growth of CHO cells and serum-added growth of other mammalian cells, including chondrocytes and rat prostate epithelial cells. It contains glutamine, no proteins or growth factors, and typically requires the addition of 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS).
