Description

DMEM is a modification of Eagle's MEM medium, with four times the concentration of amino acids and vitamins. It supports the growth of various mammalian cells. The high glucose (4.5g/L glucose) version contains sodium pyruvate, glutamine, and 1.5g/L sodium bicarbonate, but no proteins, lipids, or growth factors. It usually requires the addition of 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) for use.
