Fibroblast growth factor 8 (FGF8) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. The FGF family possesses broad mitogenic and cell survival activities and is involved in a variety of biological processes, including cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and apoptosis. FGF8 is known to be a factor that supports androgen and anchorage independent growth of mammary tumor cells.
