Description

Transferrins are iron-binding blood plasma glycoproteins isolated from serum. It can control the level of free iron in biological fluids by binding to a specific cell surface receptor to deliver iron atoms via receptor-mediated endocytosis. Labeled transferrins can be added to cultured cells and used to study this phenomenon by microscopy. They can also be used for several other applications, such as the measurement of transferrin receptor binding affinity, the investigation of endosomal acidification. and the observation of receptor trafficking in living cells.

This product is labeled with Alexa Fluor 647, a bright, far-red–fluorescent dye.
