Description

Glucagon is a peptide hormone produced by alpha cells in the pancreas and belongs to the secretin family of hormones. It is the main catabolic hormone to raise the concentration of glucose and fatty acids in the bloodstream. Its effect is opposite to that of insulin. Glucagon can be used to stimulate human primary hepatocytes for cAMP production and to induce gluconeogenic stimuli in primary hepatocytes.
