Description

Elastase, a single polypeptide chain consisting of 240 amino acid residues and four disulfide bridges, is an enzyme synthesized as an inactive zymogen. It can hydrolyze elastin and digest hemoglobin, fibrin and casein when Elastase is converted to the active form by limited proteolysis at the N-terminal by trypsin. Elastase can be used in cell culture and ELISA techniques.
