Description

Erythromycin, produced by Streptomyces erythreus, can inhibit the elongation at the transpeptidation step of the bacterial 70s rRNA complex by binding to the 50s subunit. The antimicrobial spectrum of Erythromycin includes both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
