Description
Chloramphenicol, isolated from Streptomyces venezuelae, is a synthetic antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and can be used for the selection of cells containing chloramphenicol resistance genes. The antimicrobial Spectrum of Chloramphenicol includes both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
