Description

Amphotericin B, derived from Streptomyces sp., is a polyene antifuungal antibiotic. It can bind to sterols, especially ergosterols, to form pores in the membrane of fungal and bacterial cells. Amphotericin B is usually used with Penicillin and Streptomycin in maintenance of cell culture.
