Description

Human DPPA5 (Developmental Pluripotency Associated 5), also known as ESG1 (embryonal stem cell-specific 1), is expressed in embryonic germ cells and embryonic stem cells and is a potential marker for pluripotent stem cells. DPPA5 is involved in maintaining the pluripotency of embryonic stem (ES) cells. It is essential for the self-renewal of pluripotent ES cells and the establishment of germ cells.
