Description

DNMT3B is a DNA-(cytosine C5)-methyltransferase that is responsible for establishing the methylation patterns in cooperation with DNMT3A through the de novo methylation pathway. It is essential for the establishment of DNA methylation patterns during development. DNMT3B contains a C-terminal catalytic domain and an N-terminal regulatory domain, which are involved in targeting chromatin to regulate its function.
