Description
SK7 antibody reacts with the approximately 20 kDa CD3ε subunit of the human T-cell receptor (TCR)/CD3 complex, which is expressed on the surface of approximately 95% of mature T cells and NKT cells, as well as thymocytes. Most T-cell tumors also express CD3. Most T-cell tumors also express CD3. The CD3 complex, assembled from a combination of CD3γ, δ, ε, η, and ζ subunits, binds non-covalently to the TCR and is involved in transducing antigen recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and regulating cell surface antigen expression. Activation of T cells by the TCR involves the cytoplasmic tail of the CD3 subunit, a structurally related type 1 transmembrane protein and a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily.Mutations in the CD3 subunit have been associated with a variety of immunodeficiency disorders, including severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID).
