Description
Mitochondria are the energy-producing structures in cells and the main place for cells to perform aerobic respiration. The main function of mitochondria is to produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Mitochondria are involved in the regulation of cell death pathways. Cardiolipin (CL) is a unique phospholipid which is localized and synthesized in the inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM). It is now widely accepted that CL plays a central role in many reactions and processes involved in mitochondrial function and dynamics.
