α-Tocopherol is a type of vitamin E. (+)-α-Tocopherol, also known as vitamin E, is the (+)-stereoisomer of α-Tocopherol and an enantiomer of (-)-α-Tocopherol. Vitamin E acts as a fat-soluble antioxidant to protect cell membranes from reactive oxygen species. (+)-α-Tocopherol can be used in insect cell culture as an antioxidant.
