Description

Hanks' Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) contains inorganic salts and a carbohydrate as an energy source. It is an isotonic buffer solution used to maintain cells in a physiological pH range and provide salt ions for osmoregulation. HBSS can be used for a variety of cell culture applications, such as maintenance of cells in a CO₂ environment for a short-term, diluting, washing and transporting cells, and preparing reagents.
