Basal Medium Eagle (BME) was originally developed for mouse fibroblasts and HeLa cells. It has since been widely used as basal medium for supporting cell growth in research and biomanufacturing cell culture processes of many different mammalian cells. Earle's Balanced Salts are supplemented for short-term use in a CO2 environment.
